Perinatal Loss
Faculty at the Center for Perinatal Discovery are involved in evaluation of, and research into causes of, perinatal loss. Our Center comprises of pediatric and perinatal pathologists who routinely perform detailed placental and post-mortem fetal and neonatal examinations (autopsies), and work closely with genetic counselors and colleagues in Obstetrics, Neonatology, and Radiology, in order identify causes of pregnancy loss and neonatal mortality. Our Center also includes faculty in perinatal palliative care and bereavement, who are always striving to optimally integrate this service into high-risk obstetrics and neonatology practice and thus improve patient care. Finally, our Center is also partnering with the Star Legacy Foundation, in order to better understand genetic causes of late gestation pregnancy loss.
